ACCOMPLISHMENTS





--Established the V.R. Carter Memorial Scholarship for post-secondary education



--Established the OFEBCYI Mini Grant Project which has awarded over 17 grants since its inception in 1998



--Committed $20,000 toward a Braille embosser for Braille text books and instructional materials for students throughout the state of Oklahoma.



--Provided funding for the Camp Fire Girls Camp DaKaNi Braille Trail



--Sponsored Oklahoma School for the Blind students to attend the Close Up Conference in Washington, D.C. and Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama.

March 10,2011 Meeting:

We have 3 Mini Grants total. All of them are from the Oklahoma School for the Blind.

One is for an OSB student to go to space camp in the amount of $675 or $725. Other funding sources are utilized for transportation. Approved for $725.00

The other two grants are asking for funds for equipment to be used in the summer program.

One grant for the program “An Eye on the World” in the amount of $632.00 will teach students about their particular eye condition and present adaptations and modifications which will help them in their every day life. They will gain knowledge of and be trained to use low vision equipment in various activities. Each student will receive a piece of equipment to use in their educational placement. Training, care and delivery will be supervised by the OSB Outreach Department. Approved for $632.00

This grant request is to purchase 3 Orion TI 36X Talking Calculators with $49 going toward a fourth calculator for a total. A $200 donation has been received to help with this purchase. Total amount requested is $796. The training will include how to navigate talking scientific calculators and understand how to interpret functions. They will also receive a resource document to take home with them to help them be successful in their math courses. Approved for $796.00
